Jane Smith, MA

Jane Smith brings our Foundation over 30 years of experience in EMS. She began her career as a field paramedic with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, later transitioning with the service to the San Francisco Fire Department where she rose to the rank of EMS Chief/Assistant Deputy Chief. She also oversaw the implementation of San Francisco Fire Department's first paramedic program.
Jane cofounded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit San Francisco Paramedic Association (SFPA) in which she subsequently served as the Chief Executive Officer helping to drive expansion in membership, paramedicine education, and public initiatives. Additionally, Jane has taught for 10 years as a tenured teacher with her regional community college.
Jane is a current EMS Authority Commissioner representing the California Rescue Paramedic Association (CRPA) and is a CRPA board member. She has also previously served as EMS Commission Chair. Jane has been a pod advisor for Center for the Health Professions at UCSF, faculty member for American Heart Association, and guest speaker for local and national conferences. She maintains memberships with many professionals associations in the EMS space.
