Paul Maxwell
Director
Paul Maxwell serves on our Board of Directors and guides our community campaign programs. He has worked as a Paramedic in San Diego County for over 30 years in a broad range of roles including clinical coordinator, educator, paramedic program director, field training officer and preceptor. He is the cofounder and leader of the nationally-recognized EPIC Medics program that has successfully integrated EMS and injury prevention since 1997.
Paul has spoken internationally at over 40 conferences on countless topics. He previously served as the technical advisor to Project Appleseed of the Center for Disease Control and for the California State EMS Authority Data Project. He has also partnered with FEMA to develop EMS-specific training for strike team responders and has responded himself to many disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, the Cedar Fire, and the earthquake in Haiti.
For his incredible dedication to EMS, Paul has previously been awarded the California State Firefighters’ Association Medal of Valor, the San Diego Fire Rescue Lifesaving Citation, the Emergency Medical Services for Children National Heroes Award, the American Ambulance Association Star of Life Award and the California State Paramedic of the Year.
